I was lying on the sunny autumn grass,
When two kids jumped over me.
Eyes closed,
I felt the swirling bright light of the sun,
Dancing on my eyelids.
A shadow appeared at the corner of the light,
And I opened my eyes to see grand hurtling legs,
Stretched out above my body.
The first boy landed and ran,
Looking over his shoulder and smiling.
I turned my head in time to see the other boy running at me.
Right before he reached the spot where I lay,
He sprang into the air,
Arms outstretched.
When the boys arrived at the sidewalk they stopped,
And bent their knees,
And smiled impishly,
Waving.
I waved back,
Startled but grinning.
